This is one of the questions we hear most at our initial consultations. It’s also one that is incredibly difficult to answer. Read on to find out more…

How much will an Orangery extension cost?There are several variables that will affect how much your build costs. Some of these are within our control, and others aren’t.

  1. The Design;
    this is obviously where our expertise lies. Creating plans that will fall within your budget is an architect’s responsibility. Whether or not to play with your home’s layout to maximise space, knock down walls, add plenty of glazing, including a pool (!), these sorts of options are dependent on the budget level you share with us.
  2. The materials you use;
    the specifications you, your builder, and your architect choose for building and finishing your project will have a huge impact on the final building cost. From the type of insulation used to the marble worktop you’ve been hankering after, everything affects your project’s bottom line.
  3. The builder;
    just like any other trade, individual builders have different pricing structures. Trust us when we say that the quotes you’ll receive will be completely varied. Consequently, building quotes can be difficult to compare. To help, we can create a tender pack to share with builders that details the specifications we have discussed when creating the plans. This allows building quotes to be more uniform as the builders are quoting for exactly the same thing.

How much will an extension cost you?Those are the reasons, building costs vary. But we know the reason you’re reading this blog post is that you really want to know is how much builds cost.

On average in 2021 building work costs £1800 per square metre. Depending on where your build falls on the above variables you might be looking at as little as £1200 per square metre for a simple orangery or as much as £3000 per square metre for a high spec 2 storey extension.

We’d love to discuss how much your ideas might cost. If you’d like an initial consultation then please get in touch.
