Home Development

There are many ways that you can improve your current house to make it your dream home including extensions, an internal redesign and converting your garage or loft.  Making more of your property can be a far more cost effective option than you might think, and Sevenoaks Plans is here to guide you through the process.

Ground floor extensions

If you're looking to gain some space on one floor, perhaps to increase the size of a kitchen or to create additional space for a growing family, then a ground floor extension could be the perfect solution.

There are many creative ways of extending the ground floor of your property. A side extension can be a great option if your garden space is at a premium. Also, by using materials such as glass bi-fold doors creatively, and bringing light into a room and your garden into your living space, you can achieve an increased perception of space and a sense of outdoor living.

Two story extensions

A two storey extension could be the perfect way to add value to your home, dramatically increasing the volume of the property and adding useful living space to different floors. These generally come out at the side or rear of the property and can be a useful way to conserve your garden. Adding a loft conversion would provide even more space

Loft conversions

Loft conversions can be a very economical way of adding considerable value to a property via an additional bedroom or two and extra bathroom facilities. Whilst not all properties are suitable for this type of extension, it is possible to overcome certain obstacles like ceiling height by dropping the ceiling of the floor below for example.

Whilst loft conversions used to be quite predictable, there are great opportunities to created light and airy spaces by being imaginative with the use of materials.

There is an added advantage that you can continue to live in the property whilst the work is going on.

Garage conversions

If you have a large garage that you don’t use for your car or a small one that doesn’t fit a car, a garage conversion is a brilliant way to gain more living space. Often adjoining the main residence, a garage can easily become a seamless addition to your home, for example, by becoming a utility room, a bathroom, study or even a small playroom.

They can often be done without planning permission, under Permitted Development, but we would ensure this is the case for you.

Remodelling internal space

Sometimes simply redesigning the interior of your house without building additional space, can make your house your dream home. A change of flow, increased light, better storage and moving walls are just of few of the changes that can be made.

Planning permission is not needed for remodelling, but if walls are being removed or moved, building control may be needed.
